Getting to Hyde Park Winter Wonderland 2026: drop-off points, no-parking reality, fixed fares
Hyde Park Winter Wonderland has millions of visitors over its six-week run and no visitor parking at all. The Tube stations around it are the busiest in London on a December Saturday evening. A fixed-fare car to an agreed drop-off point — and, more usefully, a pickup afterwards at a point that actually moves — is the calm way to do it, from anywhere in London or straight from the airport with the luggage in the boot.
Dates, hours, closed on 25 December
Winter Wonderland 2026 runs from Thursday 19 November 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027 in the south-east corner of Hyde Park. In previous years it has opened from 10:00 to 22:00 daily, closed on Christmas Day, and finished earlier on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve; the organisers publish 2026 hours and ticketing on their website. Entry is by timed ticket — free off-peak slots and paid peak slots — and the busiest sessions are Friday and Saturday evenings and the days between Christmas and New Year.
Entrances and the drop-off points that work
- Green entrance — Hyde Park Corner: drop-off on Knightsbridge by the Lanesborough, or on Park Lane's southbound service road. Nearest to the main attractions.
- Blue entrance — Marble Arch: drop-off on Cumberland Gate or Great Cumberland Place. Best for the ice rink and the Magical Ice Kingdom end. Combining Winter Wonderland with Oxford Street shopping? The western end of Oxford Street by Marble Arch stays open to traffic, but from late October 2026 the section from Selfridges to Oxford Circus is pedestrianised — L("oxford-street-pedestrianisation-taxi-drop-off.html", "Oxford Street pedestrianisation and drop-off points").
- Purple entrance — Park Lane (middle): drop-off on the Park Lane service road outside the Dorchester or Grosvenor House — hotel forecourts mean the driver can actually stop.
Pickups: we agree the point when you book. After 20:00 the Park Lane service roads and Knightsbridge are congested; Grosvenor Square, Curzon Street and Bayswater Road are the reliable alternatives and are a five-minute walk.
Why there's no parking, and what the roads do at 8pm
Hyde Park has no public car park and the surrounding streets are Westminster's most enforced. Q-Park Park Lane and the Marble Arch car park fill by early afternoon on peak days and cost £30–£50 for an evening. From about 19:30 on a December Friday or Saturday, Park Lane, Knightsbridge and Bayswater Road move at walking pace as taxis, buses and pickups compete for the same kerb. A booked car with an agreed pickup point away from the entrances avoids most of it.
From Heathrow, Gatwick or any airport, direct with luggage
Families landing in the afternoon regularly go straight to Winter Wonderland from Heathrow — 45 minutes on a good run — with the suitcases staying in the car while we wait, or drop the bags at the hotel first.
