Late-night arrivals: why Stansted is different
A large share of Stansted's arrivals land between 22:00 and 01:00. That matters because:
- The Stansted Express to Liverpool Street stops running around midnight and the last trains get crowded; the first morning train is not until the early hours.
- Coaches to Victoria and Liverpool Street run all night but can take 1 h 30 – 2 h and drop you at a coach station, not your hotel.
- Ride-hailing apps surge when three or four aircraft land together, and you need working mobile data to use them.

Cambridge and the university towns
Stansted is the natural airport for Cambridge — about 30 miles up the M11. Many overseas students, visiting academics and conference delegates fly in here.
