Heathrow private transfer & arrival pickup (LHR)
You land at Heathrow after a long flight, clear the border, collect your bags — and a driver is already standing in the arrivals hall holding a board with your name on it. That is the whole service. The fare was fixed in pounds when you booked from home, the driver tracked your flight while you were in the air, and the waiting time after landing is included. No queue at a rank, no app that needs UK data, no meter, no surge.
What happens when you land
- Border. Most visitors from the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the EU, Japan, Singapore and South Korea (aged 10+) can use the eGates; everyone else sees a Border Force officer. If your country needs an UK ETA, apply before you fly. Allow 20–60 minutes depending on the arrivals wave.
- Baggage and customs. Collect your cases and walk through the green channel.
- Meet your driver. Directly after customs you enter the public arrivals hall. Your driver is there with a Rushxo name board, helps with luggage and walks you to the car. You never leave the building to look for a pickup zone.
- Straight to your door. Central London is typically 45–75 minutes; the driver drops you at the hotel entrance or your exact address.
Find your terminal by airline
Heathrow has four terminals and they are far apart, so we ask for your flight number rather than the terminal. As a guide:

Fixed fares in pounds — what a Heathrow transfer costs
Every fare is quoted in GBP and fixed at booking. Your bank converts at its own rate, so the figures in other currencies below are approximate at the time of writing — the pound amount is the one that will not change.
| Heathrow to | Saloon (1–4, 2 cases) | Executive (up to 3) | MPV (up to 6) | 8-seater (up to 7) | Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Central London — West End / Mayfair | from £65 (≈ US$88 / €76) | from £91 | from £91 | from £117 | 40–60 min |
| Central London — Paddington / Marylebone | from £82 | from £105 | from £109 | from £143 | 55–80 min |
| Central London — Strand, Bloomsbury, King's Cross, the City (zone charges apply) | from £135 | from £161 | from £161 | from £187 | 45–65 min |
| Canary Wharf | from £70 | from £91 | from £93 | from £121 | 50–75 min |
| Gatwick (connections) | from £91 | from £116 | from £120 | from £157 | 60–85 min |
| Southampton cruise port (any terminal) | from £183 (≈ US$247 / €214) | from £215 | from £223 | from £292 | 2 h – 2 h 45 |
| Dover cruise terminals | from £247 | from £296 | from £307 | from £397 | 2 h 45 – 3 h 50 |
| Oxford, Cambridge, Bath, Windsor | fixed quote | fixed quote | fixed quote | fixed quote | 50 min – 2 h |
The fare is per car, not per person — a family of four pays one saloon fare. Tolls, waiting time and the meet & greet are included. Central London fares depend on the exact address (some central postcodes carry zone charges) — type your hotel into the booking page and the fixed fare for every vehicle appears instantly. Booking from outside the UK
- Pay online by card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal). You pay a 30% deposit to secure the booking and the balance before travel — nothing is owed to the driver on the day.
- Give us your flight number. We track it from departure; if you land early or late, the pickup moves with you.
- Times are UK local time. Your pickup time is the scheduled landing time — you do not need to calculate walking or immigration time; the waiting is on us.
- WhatsApp works from any country. Message +44 20 8888 9988 the moment you have your bags and we send the driver's name, photo and registration.
- Child seats are available on request for infants and children; UK law does not require them in licensed private hire cars, but we recommend them and can fit them.
If your flight is delayed, diverted or you are held at the border
Long-haul delays are normal and the booking absorbs them: the driver is dispatched against the live landing time, not the scheduled one, and 60 minutes of free waiting starts only after the aircraft is on the ground. If immigration takes longer than that, message us on WhatsApp — we would rather know than guess. Diverted to Gatwick or Stansted? Call us and we move the pickup; see what happens when your flight is diverted.
Why a pre-booked car rather than the train, a rank taxi or an app
- Vs the Heathrow Express / Elizabeth line: the train is quick to Paddington, but you then need a second journey with your luggage. For two or more people with bags, door-to-door is usually cheaper and always simpler. Compare: Heathrow Express or private transfer?
- Vs a black cab from the rank: metered, and a Heathrow–central London black cab commonly costs more than a fixed private transfer, rising in traffic.
- Vs Uber/Bolt: surge pricing on arrival waves, a walk to a car park pickup zone, and an app that needs working mobile data before you have a UK SIM. Details: pre-booked transfer vs Uber for visitors.
- Vs a stranger offering "taxi?" in the hall: never. Touts are unlicensed and uninsured. Our drivers carry TfL private-hire licences and show a name board — how to tell the difference.
Licensed, insured and accountable
Rushxo is a Transport for London licensed private hire operator (licence 11588), a UK registered company (Companies House 16464640), with £10 million public liability insurance. Every driver is TfL-licensed and Enhanced DBS checked. You get a real person on the phone or WhatsApp 24 hours a day, not a bot.
Frequently asked by arriving visitors
- How long do you wait if immigration is slow?
- 60 minutes of free waiting is built in and starts from your actual landing time, not the scheduled one; if you are still inside past that, a quick WhatsApp keeps the driver in place.
- Can I pay in dollars or euros?
- Fares are in GBP; pay online with any international card and your bank converts. No cash is needed on the day.
- Do you do late-night and 5am arrivals?
- Yes, 24/7 at the same fixed fare — no night surcharge.
- How much luggage fits?
- A saloon takes 4 passengers with 2 large cases plus hand luggage; an MPV 6 with 4–5 cases; an 8-seater 7 passengers and a 9-seater 8, each with a case per person. Tell us your bag count and we size the car.
- Do I tip the driver?
- Not expected. If you want to, 5–10% is generous by UK standards. See tipping in the UK.
