How We Vet Our Drivers

how we vet our drivers fixed-price taxi booking with Rushxo

When a PA puts a principal, a client or somebody's children into a car, they're trusting a stranger on the company's behalf — so here is exactly who that stranger is. Every RushXO driver clears TfL's private-hire licensing regime — enhanced DBS criminal-record check, medical, right-to-work — and then our own layer on top: onboarding, confidentiality undertakings, appearance and conduct standards, and removal from corporate work if standards slip. This page exists so you can answer procurement's questions by sending a link.

The regulatory floor

What TfL licensing already guarantees

London private hire is one of the most regulated ground-transport regimes in the world. Before any driver can lawfully take a single RushXO booking, Transport for London requires them to hold a private-hire driver's licence — and that licence is not a formality.

Criminal record

Enhanced DBS check

Every licensed driver undergoes an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check — the highest standard level, the same tier used for roles working with children and vulnerable adults — with TfL assessing any history against its licensing standards before a licence is granted or renewed.

Fitness

Medical & right to work

Drivers must meet the DVLA Group 2 medical standard applied to professional drivers and prove their right to work in the UK. Licences are time-limited and must be renewed, so checks recur rather than fading into history.

The vehicle

Licensed, tested, insured

Vehicles hold their own TfL private-hire vehicle licence, pass licensing inspections beyond the standard MOT, and carry hire-and-reward insurance — the commercial class that actually covers paying passengers, which ordinary car insurance does not.

The operator

Our licence: 11588

Bookings are only lawful through a licensed operator. RushXO holds TfL Private Hire Operator Licence 11588 — meaning booking records, complaint handling and driver dispatch happen inside a regulated framework TfL can and does audit.

Our layer on top

What RushXO adds beyond the licence

Direct engagement, not gig roulette

Drivers on corporate work are contracted directly to RushXO and dispatched by our controllers — accountable to us by name, not an anonymous app allocation that changes with every job.

Onboarding & standards

Corporate drivers are onboarded on our conduct standards: appearance (suited on executive work), the quiet-cabin rule, passenger-preference briefings, kerb and meeting-point craft for the districts they cover, and how on-behalf bookings — the PA's updates, the principal's experience — are meant to feel.

Confidentiality undertakings

Corporate-rota drivers sign confidentiality undertakings as standard, with client- or production-specific NDAs layered on where firms require them — the backbone of our discreet service and every legal, finance and media account.

Specialist assignments earn extra scrutiny

School-run and family work is assigned only to drivers we select for it, introduced to families before the first journey, with written handover protocols — the full detail is on our regular bookings page. Discreet and high-profile work draws from a smaller senior pool chosen for judgement, not just clean paperwork.

Standards enforced by removal

Feedback from account clients routes to a named controller; a driver who falls short of corporate standards comes off corporate work. Simple, and known to every driver on the rota.

For procurement

The questions we're ready to answer

Supplier questionnaires usually want the same things: licensing evidence, insurance certificates, DBS assurance, data handling, and complaint history. Send them to support@rushxo.com and they come back completed — and if your firm requires bespoke undertakings (site inductions, specific NDAs, driver lists for building security), that's routine on account setup rather than a special favour. This page is written to be linked in your vendor file; everything on it holds for every driver we dispatch.

FAQ

Driver vetting — common questions

Are your drivers background checked?

Yes — every driver holds a TfL private-hire licence, which requires an enhanced DBS criminal-record check (the highest disclosure level), a professional-standard medical and proof of right to work, all recurring at licence renewal. On top of that, corporate-rota drivers pass RushXO's own onboarding and sign confidentiality undertakings.

What is an enhanced DBS check?

The most thorough level of the Disclosure and Barring Service check — covering spent and unspent convictions, cautions and relevant police information. It's the tier used for roles around children and vulnerable adults, and TfL requires it for every licensed private-hire driver in London.

Are the vehicles insured for carrying passengers?

Yes — every vehicle carries hire-and-reward insurance, the commercial class that covers paying passengers, alongside its own TfL vehicle licence and licensing inspections beyond the standard MOT.

Are drivers employees or gig workers?

Drivers on our corporate work are contracted directly to RushXO and dispatched by our controllers under operator licence 11588 — accountable by name to us, not allocated anonymously per ride by an app.

Do drivers sign NDAs?

Corporate-rota drivers sign confidentiality undertakings as standard, and we additionally execute client-specific or production-specific NDAs whenever a firm's legal team requires them.

Who drives school runs and family journeys?

Only drivers we specifically select for family work — enhanced-DBS licensed like all drivers, then introduced to the family before any journey, operating under written handover protocols with pickup and drop-off confirmations every trip.

Can you complete our supplier due-diligence questionnaire?

Yes — send it to support@rushxo.com; licensing evidence, insurance certificates and policy answers come back completed, and bespoke requirements like driver lists for building security are handled at account setup.
