Chauffeur by the Hour

chauffeur by the hour london fixed-price taxi booking with Rushxo

Some days aren't A-to-B. Five meetings across town, a site visit with an unknown finish, a guest who wants Harrods then Hampton Court — for those, hire the car and chauffeur by the hour. The same driver stays with you all day, waits outside every stop, learns the schedule, and flexes when it slips. From £45 per hour (3-hour minimum), fixed rate agreed at booking, luggage and shopping guarded in between.

As directed

What "as-directed" hire actually means

You don't book journeys — you book time. From the moment the car arrives, it goes where you say, waits where you stop, and re-plans when you do. No re-booking between meetings, no surge quote for the next hop, no stranger driver every leg, and no watching a meter while a lunch overruns.

The driver

Briefed once, useful all day

Share the day's rough shape in advance and the chauffeur pre-plans parking, drop points and timings for each address — then holds position outside every stop so the car door opens the moment you appear.

The car

A mobile base

Coats, laptops, sample cases and shopping stay locked in a car that's never far away. Take calls between stops in a quiet cabin with charging and water — many clients treat the back seat as the day's third office.

The rate

Hours, not guesswork

One agreed hourly rate covering driver, vehicle, fuel and waiting; central-London parking and any Congestion Charge handled by the driver and itemised transparently. Overruns simply extend at the same rate.

Who books hourly

Four days that only work by the hour

The meeting marathon

A PA books 9am–6pm for a principal with six appointments from Canary Wharf to Paddington. The driver sequences the day, absorbs every overrun, and the boss never once looks for a car. For investor-day versions with strict timing, see our roadshow service.

The site-visit loop

Surveyors, partners and architects touring four properties before lunch — muddy boots in the boot, plans across the back seat, and a driver who's already found the site entrance the satnav missed.

The guest's London day

A visiting spouse or client takes the car for Westminster, the V&A, Harrods and tea — an unhurried, door-to-door day with every bag guarded, arranged by the PA in one booking.

The unknown finish

Board meetings, medical days and negotiations end when they end. Hourly hire means the car outside simply waits — no re-booking at a stressful moment, no midnight surge.

FAQ

Hourly chauffeur hire — common questions

How much is a chauffeur by the hour in London?

From £45 per hour for a saloon and £55 per hour for an Executive Mercedes E-Class or BMW 5 Series, with a 3-hour minimum. Half-day (4-hour) and full-day (8-hour) rates work out cheaper per hour, and every rate is fixed at booking — waiting between stops is included.

Does the driver wait while I'm in meetings?

Yes — waiting is the point of as-directed hire. The chauffeur holds position outside each stop (or as close as parking allows) so the car is ready the moment you finish, with no waiting fees on top of the hourly rate.

Do I keep the same driver and car all day?

Yes — one chauffeur and one vehicle for the whole hire. The driver learns your schedule, your preferences and where you like to be dropped at each address, which is exactly what repeat hourly clients value most.

What if my day overruns the booked hours?

The hire simply extends at the same agreed hourly rate — tell the driver or dispatch and carry on. You'll never be renegotiating a fare mid-afternoon or watching surge pricing at 7pm.

Can I add or change stops during the hire?

Freely — as-directed means the schedule is yours. Add a pharmacy stop, drop a colleague, reroute to a different restaurant; the driver re-plans on the move and nothing needs re-booking.

Is hourly hire available outside Central London?

Yes — anywhere in Greater London at standard rates, and beyond by arrangement: Home Counties site visits, day trips to Oxford or the coast, and multi-city days are quoted as fixed day rates at booking.

Can a PA book hourly hire on the company account?

Yes — hourly and day hire run on corporate accounts with the same cost-centre tagging as journey bookings, appearing as a single coded line per day on the monthly invoice.
