Major road closures across Westminster and the Embankment, packed last trains, and the year's most predictable surge-pricing night for app-based cabs — all at once. Book a fixed fare in advance and it stays the price you agreed, whatever midnight looks like everywhere else.
31 December 2026
Around 100,000 people watch London's fireworks from the ticketed riverside areas, with several times that many more filling the surrounding streets — and Transport for London closes a large stretch of central London to traffic from the afternoon onward. It's the single most disrupted night of the year to move around the city, and the single most predictable night for surge pricing everywhere else.
A 12,000-firework display launched from the London Eye and nearby barges — Big Ben, the Shard and the river all part of the display.
Embankment, much of Westminster and the South Bank close to traffic well before the show. We plan the route around this at booking, not on the night.
NYE is the year's biggest surge night for app-based cabs. RushXO fares don't move, whichever time you book.

FAQ
Not right to the riverbank — the roads along the Embankment, around Westminster and much of the South Bank close from mid-afternoon on the 31st. We agree the closest practical drop-off and pickup point to your viewing area at booking, and route around the closures rather than into them.
No — it's the opposite of that, deliberately. NYE is the single biggest surge night of the year for app-based cabs, sometimes 3–4x the normal fare. Your RushXO price is fixed when you book, in October or on the 30th, and stays that price at midnight.
It's exactly why we set a specific, walkable pickup point away from the closures and the ticketed viewing areas when you book, rather than trying to meet you somewhere that becomes inaccessible after 9pm.
Very much so. NYE is one of our busiest single days for exactly this — day-trippers from Brighton, Oxford, Reading and further out who don't want to deal with reduced last-train timetables or a packed rail replacement bus at 1am.
We build in extra time either side of midnight as standard, and hold your pickup point for a longer window than usual — arrivals and departures both take longer on the night, and the fare doesn't change because of it.
Yes — book it as one job with multiple stops, or as separate legs through the evening. Either way it's agreed and fixed in advance, not negotiated on the night.
Every Rushxo pickup includes 60 minutes of complimentary waiting time from your scheduled slot, at no extra charge, and your fixed fare does not change if your visit runs longer than planned.
Book any time between now and the 31st — the price agreed today is the price you pay at midnight.
