RushXOSouthampton Airport Taxi

Fixed-fare transfers to and from Southampton (SOU) — a small, fast, single-terminal airport with a railway station a few minutes' walk from the door. We will say that plainly. What the train cannot do is carry a cruise trunk to Ocean Terminal, and Southampton is the country's biggest cruise port. Fly-cruise is what we do here — met in arrivals, luggage handled, run to the right ship on a fixed fare, timed to embarkation rather than a timetable.

Cruise Terminals

Southampton Airport is one of the easiest airports in Britain to use. A single compact terminal. A railway station — Southampton Airport Parkway — a short covered walk from the door, with no shuttle and no bus, which for once makes the station's name honest. Many passengers are from the gate to the exit in a few minutes. If you are one person with a cabin bag travelling from Winchester or Waterloo, take the train. It is excellent and we will not pretend otherwise.

Southampton Taxi at a Glance

From £30 · Single terminal · Station a short walk away (and we will say so) · Fly-cruise specialists · Meet & greet in arrivals · Flight tracked · 60 minutes free wait · Drop-off charge & tolls included · South coast · 24/7

But Southampton is not really an airport town. It is a cruise port — the biggest in the country — and that changes what a taxi is for here. Thousands of people fly into SOU and board a ship the same day, with a fortnight's formalwear in trunks that no one is lifting onto a Parkway platform. That run is our speciality: met inside arrivals, luggage taken, driven to the correct cruise terminal on a fixed fare, timed to the ship rather than the timetable. Book online at rushxo.com/rushxo-booking, call +44 1474 554933, or WhatsApp +44 7466 237870.

Our speciality

Fly-Cruise: Airport to Ship, Same Day

You land at SOU. Your ship sails this evening. Here is exactly how that day works when we are running it.

1

You give us the ship, not just the flight

Ship name and sailing date at booking. We confirm which of Southampton's cruise terminals it is actually berthing at — which depends on the ship, not the cruise line, and which people get wrong more often than you would think.

2

We track the flight against the sailing

Not just "is it late" but "does late still make the ship". Embarkation windows close, and a driver who has already worked out where you stand is worth rather more than one who simply waits.

3

Met inside arrivals, luggage taken

Name board in the hall, trolley taken, cases loaded. Cruise luggage is not cabin luggage — it is trunks, suit carriers and a fortnight of formal nights. The vehicle is sized for it before we arrive.

4

Driven to the right berth on a fixed fare

Twenty to thirty minutes from SOU to the docks, on the price we agreed. Dropped at the correct terminal with your bags at the porter's desk, not at a general gate with a map and good luck.

5

And the same in reverse, two weeks later

Disembarkation morning is a crowd of several thousand people all wanting a car at once. Pre-booked means pre-booked — your driver is there, the fare is the fare, and there is no surge because a ship docked.

Southampton's cruise terminals

Ocean, Mayflower, City and Horizon are the main ones, and which you need is determined by your ship. Send us the ship name and we confirm the berth before the day — turning up at the wrong terminal on embarkation morning is a slow problem to fix, and the ship does not wait.

Southampton Taxi Prices

Indicative saloon fares to and from SOU, fixed at booking. The price is for the vehicle, not per person, and includes the drop-off charge and any tolls.

Indicative saloon fares, both directions. Executive, MPV and 8–9 seat vehicles are priced above these. Cruise transfers with trunks and multiple cases are usually MPV or larger. Journey times are typical off-peak; the M27 and M3 in peak run longer. Fares last reviewed June 2026.

Train or Taxi at Southampton?

Southampton Airport Parkway is a few minutes' walk from the terminal door. No shuttle, no bus, no DART, no people-mover — you walk. It is one of the best airport rail connections in the country and it would be dishonest of us to bury that.

Take the train if…

You are travelling alone or as a couple, with hand luggage, from Southampton, Winchester, Basingstoke or London Waterloo, at a civilised hour, and you are going to another station. It is quick, cheap and it works. We would take it ourselves.

Take the car if…

You are joining a cruise — and that is not a small exception at this airport, it is a large share of the traffic. It is also the car if you have hold luggage, if there are three or more of you, if you are heading to Bournemouth, the New Forest, Salisbury or anywhere off the rail line, if your flight leaves at 05:30, or if you are collecting someone who deserves to be met properly rather than sent to a platform.

The honest summary

At most airports we argue that the train is inconvenient. At Southampton, it plainly is not — and we would rather tell you that and win the work that genuinely suits a car. Which, at a port city where the ships are the reason most people come, is a great deal of work.

Meet & greet

How the Arrival Works

A very small terminal makes this simple. Here is exactly what happens.

1

We watch the flight

Your flight number is tracked from departure. On a fly-cruise booking we watch it against the ship's embarkation window, not just the arrivals board — because that is the deadline that actually matters.

2

Driver waits inside

Short-stay car park, then into the arrivals hall with your name on a board. One building, one hall — and a very small one. The parking cost is ours.

3

Out in ten minutes

SOU is genuinely quick. Many passengers are from the aircraft door to the exit in well under fifteen minutes, which makes the sixty free minutes a proper cushion rather than a limit.

4

Cruise luggage handled

Trunks and suit carriers are not cabin bags. We size the vehicle for what you are actually bringing, and the driver loads it and delivers it to the porter at the ship.

5

Correct berth, confirmed

The terminal depends on the ship. We check it against your ship name before the day and take you to the right one, which is not a service the rail network offers.

6

Fixed fare, paid your way

Pay online at booking or by card in the car. The number does not move — not on disembarkation morning, not for a delay, not for a 04:30 pickup.

Cruise passengers are the most consistently under-quoted people in this business. Two people going away for fourteen nights is not a saloon job — it is two large cases, a suit carrier and a hand bag each, and it does not fit. Tell us the ship and the real luggage and we will send a vehicle that actually holds it. WhatsApp us for an instant fixed quote.

Travelling as a group? Our Southampton minibus hire covers 8, 12 and 16-seater minibuses with driver — one fixed fare for the whole party, no surge.

Timing & roads

When to Leave for Southampton

Two hours before departure for a flight, and it is usually generous — SOU is small and quick. For a cruise, the deadline is different and it is not negotiable: the embarkation window, which closes well before the ship sails. We plan the whole chain around that rather than around a departure board.

The M27 and the M3

Everything into SOU and the docks arrives on the M27 or the M3. The M27 through Southampton is the pinch point, slow in the morning peak and around the docks on a big embarkation day — because several thousand cars are trying to reach the same berth in the same three hours. We know when the big ships turn round, and we plan for the queue rather than joining the back of it.

Summer and the New Forest

Hampshire in August is a holiday county, and the roads through the Forest and towards Bournemouth behave accordingly. A sunny Saturday adds time that has nothing to do with the airport.

Disembarkation morning

If you are being collected from a ship, the docks are chaos for a few hours and the roads around them are worse. A booked car with a known collection point and a fixed fare is the difference between leaving and queueing.

About RushXO Southampton Transfers

One fixed taxi fare agreed at booking, a licensed and enhanced-DBS-checked driver whose name and vehicle you have before the day, and a clean recent-model car. Southampton is unusual on our network because the airport is genuinely easy to reach by rail and we say so — while the cruise port next to it is the single strongest argument for a booked car anywhere in the country. Cruise luggage does not go on trains, ships do not wait, and the terminal depends on the vessel.

So our SOU work is mostly fly-cruise, and we run it properly: ship confirmed, berth checked, luggage sized for, embarkation window tracked rather than a departures board. Child seats are free on request. Accessible and step-free vehicles can be arranged in advance subject to availability. Returns are set on the same fixed-fare basis — and on disembarkation morning, a pre-booked car is worth every penny of it.

About RushXO

RushXO Ltd is a Dartford-based private hire operator licensed by Transport for London, registered at Companies House under number 16464640 and with the Information Commissioner's Office under reference ZC112187. Every driver holds a current Private Hire Driver licence, which requires an enhanced DBS check, a medical and topographical testing. Our entire model rests on one promise: the fixed fare quoted at booking is the fare you pay, every time. Frequently asked

Southampton Airport Taxi — Your Questions

Is Southampton Airport Parkway station really next to the terminal?
Yes — and unusually, the name is honest. Southampton Airport Parkway sits a short covered walk from the terminal door, a matter of minutes, with no shuttle and no bus. It is one of the best-connected airports in the country by rail, and if you are travelling alone from Southampton, Winchester or London Waterloo with hand luggage, the train is a genuinely good option. A car earns its fare when you are carrying bags, travelling as a group, going somewhere off the line, or joining a cruise.
Do you do fly-cruise transfers from Southampton Airport to the cruise terminals?
Yes — this is a speciality. Southampton is the UK's biggest cruise port, and passengers regularly fly into SOU and sail the same day. We meet you inside arrivals with a name board, handle the luggage, and run you to the correct cruise terminal on a fixed fare, working to your embarkation time rather than a train timetable. There is no sensible way to move cruise luggage by rail, which is precisely why we do this run constantly. See our cruise transfer pages.
Which Southampton cruise terminal do I need?
Southampton has several — Ocean, Mayflower, City and Horizon among them — and which one you need depends on your ship, not your cruise line. Tell us the ship name and sailing date at booking and we confirm the terminal for you. Turning up at the wrong one is a real risk and a slow one to fix on embarkation day, so we check rather than assume.
How much is a taxi to Southampton Airport?
Fares start from £30 in a saloon and are quoted as one fixed price for the whole vehicle, not per person. Southampton city centre and Eastleigh are short runs; Winchester, Portsmouth and the New Forest are priced on distance; Bournemouth, Salisbury and Brighton are longer regional runs. Airport-to-cruise-terminal transfers are quoted the same way. The drop-off charge and any tolls are included.
Does Southampton Airport have more than one terminal?
No — a single, compact terminal with one arrivals hall. It is one of the quickest airports in the country to move through: many passengers are from the gate to the exit in a few minutes. Your driver comes inside with a name board and there is nowhere else to stand.
Is the Southampton drop-off charge included?
Yes. Southampton charges vehicles that use the terminal drop-off zone, and that fee is inside your quoted fare, as is the short-stay parking your driver uses to meet you and any tolls on the route. SOU is far from any clean-air charging zone, so there is no charge of that kind at the airport end. Nothing is added on the day.
How early should I arrive at Southampton Airport?
Two hours before departure is the standard advice and at SOU it is usually generous — the terminal is small and processes people quickly. We still plan on the two-hour basis. If you are flying out to join a cruise, we plan the whole chain around the ship's embarkation window instead, because that is the deadline that actually matters.
Where does the driver meet me at Southampton arrivals?
One terminal, one arrivals hall. Your driver parks in the short stay and comes inside with a name board. Because the building is so compact there is no ambiguity about where to stand and no long walk to the car. The parking cost is included in your fixed fare.
Do you cover Bournemouth, Portsmouth and the New Forest?
Yes. Southampton serves a wide south-coast catchment — Winchester, Eastleigh, Romsey, Portsmouth, Fareham, Bournemouth, Poole, Salisbury, the New Forest and the Isle of Wight ferry ports. Much of it has no useful rail route to the airport. Those runs are fixed-fare and door-to-door, and a large share of them are cruise-related.
How long do you wait if my flight is delayed?
We track your flight number from takeoff, so a delay moves the pickup automatically at no cost. After landing you get 60 minutes of free waiting time. On a fly-cruise booking we watch the delay against your ship's embarkation window and stay in contact — a driver who has already worked out whether you still make the sailing is worth rather more than one who simply waits.
Do you provide child seats for Southampton transfers?
Yes, free of charge. Tell us the number and ages of your children when you book and the right infant seat, child seat or booster is fitted before your driver sets off. Free cancellation applies up to 24 hours before pickup.

Ready to Book Your Southampton Transfer?

The station is a walk away and we will tell you so. But cruise trunks do not go on trains, ships do not wait, and the berth depends on the vessel. Send us the flight and the ship, and we will handle the whole chain on one fixed fare.
