Gatwick to Stansted Airport Taxi & Transfer
Fixed-price chauffeured taxi from London Gatwick (LGW) to London Stansted (STN) — roughly 72–76 miles and 100–130 minutes via the M23, the M25 and the M11. We meet you inside North or South arrivals with a name board and take you to Stansted's single terminal. From £110, agreed at booking — Dartford Crossing toll included. Flight tracked, 60 minutes free waiting, no surge, no meter. TfL licensed, 24/7.
Gatwick to Stansted — the long way round
Gatwick sits south of London and Stansted north-east of it, close to opposite corners of the M25. This is the longest and least predictable of the London airport-pair transfers, and the one where the driver's route choice genuinely matters.
We go clockwise round the Kent side and over the Dartford Crossing by default — roughly 72–76 miles against 98–100 the western way past Heathrow, and about 25 minutes quicker on clear roads. When the crossing is closed or badly queued we take the western arc instead. Your fare is identical either way, toll included.
Timing it honestly
Clear roads put this at about 1 hour 40. Ordinary daytime traffic makes it 1 hour 50 to 2 hours 10. Weekday peaks — 06:30 to 10:00 and 15:30 to 19:00 — can stretch it to two and a half or three hours, and Sunday afternoons are quietly one of the worst windows on this corridor.
The Dartford approach is the pinch point in this direction. It has no parallel road, so an incident there has no cheap workaround — which is exactly why we plan to the realistic time rather than the optimistic one, and why the fare being fixed matters on this route more than on any other.
| When you travel | Typical door-to-door | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Before 06:00 | 1 hr 40 – 1 hr 50 | Clear, and the crossing is free before 06:00. |
| 06:30–10:00 weekday | 2 hr 15 – 3 hr | Morning peak on the crossing approach and the M11. |
| 10:00–15:00 | 1 hr 50 – 2 hr 10 | The most predictable window. |
| 15:30–19:00 weekday | 2 hr 15 – 3 hr | Evening peak; Dartford queues heavily. |
| After 22:00 & overnight | 1 hr 35 – 1 hr 50 | Quiet, and the Dart Charge is free 22:00–06:00. |
Indicative door-to-door times, Gatwick (LGW) to Stansted (STN). Your fixed fare does not change with traffic, route or toll.
The toll is inside your fare
The crossing has no barriers and no toll booths — cameras read the plate and payment is expected online afterwards. Nothing at the crossing tells you that you owe anything, which is why so many drivers find out via a penalty notice weeks later.
| Dart Charge (2026) | Detail |
|---|---|
| Car, one-off payment | £3.50 per crossing (£2.80 on a pre-pay account). |
| Charging hours | 06:00 to 22:00, every day including weekends and bank holidays. Crossings between 22:00 and 06:00 are free. |
| Payment deadline | By midnight the day after you cross. There are no barriers — nothing is collected at the crossing itself. |
| If it isn't paid | £70 Penalty Charge Notice, reduced to £35 if paid within 14 days, rising to £105 if left unpaid. |
The Dart Charge is set by National Highways, not by RushXO. On a RushXO booking it is inside your fixed fare — you never deal with the crossing payment or the deadline.
We meet you inside arrivals — North or South
Gatwick's two terminals are a three-minute automated shuttle apart, and your driver needs to be in the right one. Tell us the terminal at booking — it is on your airline confirmation — and we are waiting in that hall when you clear customs.
North Terminal arrivals
British Airways (long-haul), TUI, Norwegian, WestJet and some easyJet routes.
Driver inside North arrivals with a name board, luggage carried to the car in the short-stay car park alongside.
South Terminal arrivals
easyJet (most routes), Ryanair, Vueling, British Airways short-haul and others.
The busier hall, connected directly to Gatwick railway station. An inside meet-and-greet avoids the crowded forecourt entirely.
One terminal — a simple finish
Stansted has a single passenger terminal, with three satellites for the departure gates and a shuttle between them. We take you to the departures door and help with the luggage — no terminal to choose, nothing to get wrong after two hours on the road.
Ryanair overwhelmingly dominates Stansted, with Jet2 a clear second. Worth flagging because plenty of guides are out of date: easyJet closed its Stansted base in August 2020 and now runs only a handful of routes from here.
Stansted's Express Set Down charge rose to £10 for up to 15 minutes on 19 March 2026, with a flat £28 beyond that. Barrier-free ANPR, payable by 23:59 the day after; unpaid it becomes a £100 Parking Charge Notice (£60 within 14 days). The Mid Stay car park is free for up to one hour with a 24-hour shuttle and a seven-minute transfer. Charges are set by the airport, not by RushXO, and any applicable charge is inside your fixed fare.
If you are connecting onto a Stansted departure, allow the two hours the airport asks for before a short-haul flight, and remember bag drop closes 40 minutes before departure and does not reopen.
Connecting? Six hours on this route
Gatwick and Stansted are separate airports on separate tickets — no baggage forwarding, no airline protection. This is the longest and least predictable London pair, so allow at least six hours between the two scheduled times: up to an hour for immigration and baggage at Gatwick, up to three hours on the road at peak, and two hours for check-in at Stansted. Under six hours, an overnight is usually the safer plan.

Booking both legs
Running out and back? Book both on one reference and give us both flight numbers. We track both, so a delay on the first automatically moves the second pickup — useful on a route where the timings are this variable.
