Where cars can actually stop at The O2

The peninsula is a controlled site on event nights, and the difference between a good pick-up and forty minutes on a kerb is knowing which street to use. This is how we work it.

PENINSULA SQ

Peninsula Square

The closest legal set-down to the main entrance. A 2–3 minute walk to the doors. Busiest between 60 and 20 minutes before showtime, and marshalled on big nights.

EDMUND HALLEY

Edmund Halley Way

Our usual pick-up after a show. One street back from the square, out of the pedestrian surge, and it clears far faster than the front.

MILLENNIUM WY

Millennium Way & Peninsula Sq. West

Fallback when the square is closed to traffic for a stadium-scale event. Slightly longer walk, much shorter wait.

BLUE / COACH

Coach and minibus set-down

Large vehicles use the designated coach area rather than the car drop-off. We confirm the exact point with your driver on the day.

After the show

Twenty thousand people leave the arena inside about fifteen minutes, and most of them walk the same way. We do not ask you to fight through that. Your driver texts the meeting point while the last song is still going, waits at Edmund Halley Way, and holds position until you are in the car. If your group splits up, we wait for the stragglers rather than charging you for a second run.

Getting off the peninsula

Traffic out of Greenwich Peninsula funnels towards the A102 and the Blackwall Tunnel, with the Silvertown Tunnel as the alternative crossing. Both carry road user charges, and the Dartford Crossing has its own charge on the way back into Kent. We confirm which of these apply to your route and whether they are included in your quote before you book, so nothing appears afterwards.

Every kind of night at The O2

The venue is really several venues. A Saturday fight night, a Tuesday comedy show and a December arena tour all finish differently, and the return leg gets planned around the event rather than the ticket.

Arena concerts & world tours

The main room seats around 20,000. Doors typically 6:30–7pm, headline sets finish 10:30–11:15pm.

Boxing & UFC fight nights

Undercards start early and main events run late. We build the return around the walk-on time, not the ticket time.

Comedy & spoken word

Tighter finishes, faster exits. Often the easiest night of the year to get away from the peninsula.

BRIT Awards & televised shows

Extended road closures and accreditation zones. We plan drop-offs further out and walk you in.

Basketball, netball & arena sport

Daytime and early-evening tip-offs, so your return usually beats the worst of the traffic.

indigo at The O2

Smaller 2,800-capacity room, same entrance plaza, same drop-off and pick-up points.

Up at The O2 & the Icon Outlet

Daytime climbs, shopping and dining trips. Fixed-fare return whenever you finish.

Cineworld & restaurant nights

Dinner and a film on the peninsula with a car booked for the way home.

Vehicles and group sizes

Seat counts are the real, usable ones. If you are unsure, tell us the head count and we will put you in the right vehicle rather than the most expensive one.

How an O2 booking works

1

Send the show, postcode & head count

Book online, call, or WhatsApp. Ticket time helps — we work the pick-up backwards from doors rather than guessing.

2

You get a fixed fare and a plan

A price that does not move, a departure time that accounts for the A2 and the tunnel approach, and your drop-off point confirmed.

3

The driver arrives early

Ten minutes before your slot, in the right vehicle, contactable directly. No app-hunting, no surge for leaving with everyone else.

4

The return happens, however late

Encores and delayed main events are built in. The driver waits and the meeting point goes to your phone.

O2 Arena transfer questions

The things people ask most often before booking a car to Greenwich Peninsula.

Can a taxi drop off right at The O2 Arena?

Yes. Cars and minibuses set down at Peninsula Square, roughly a two to three minute walk from the main entrance. On the busiest nights the square is marshalled and traffic is directed to Edmund Halley Way or Millennium Way instead. Your driver will tell you which one applies before you set off, and we send the exact meeting point by text or WhatsApp.

Where will you pick us up after the show?

By default, Edmund Halley Way. It sits one street back from Peninsula Square, so you avoid the pedestrian crush at the front and the car gets out of the peninsula far quicker. If you would rather be collected somewhere specific, tell us when you book and we will agree it in advance.

What if the show overruns or we get held back?

The driver waits. Encores, delayed main events and slow arena exits are normal on event nights, and they are built into how we price the job. We track the event and the driver stays in contact with you, so nobody is standing on a kerb wondering where the car is.

Is the fare fixed before we travel?

Yes. You get a fixed price when you book, based on the postcode, the vehicle and the timings. It does not change because of traffic, a longer route out of the peninsula, or the show finishing late. No meter, no surge pricing on event nights.

Do you charge extra for the Dartford Crossing or the tunnel tolls?

We tell you up front. Road charges for the Dartford Crossing and the Blackwall and Silvertown tunnels change from time to time, so we confirm whether they apply to your route and whether they are included in your quote before you commit. Nothing gets added afterwards.

How early should we leave for a show at The O2?

For a 6:30pm doors time we usually leave Gravesend and Dartford by 4:45pm, and Medway or Maidstone by 4:15pm. That covers the A2 and A102 at their worst and still gets you to the plaza with time for security, bag checks and a drink. If you tell us your ticket time we will work the pick-up backwards from it.

Can you take a group of 20 or more?

Yes. We run 16-seat minibuses, 24-seat midi coaches and 49-seat coaches, and we can send more than one vehicle on the same booking with a single point of contact and one invoice. Group bookings for arena nights are worth placing early, particularly for fight nights and December dates.

Do you do one-way, or does it have to be a return?

Either. Plenty of people book the outbound only and make their own way back, or book the return only after a train in. Return bookings are the ones worth locking in early, because that is the leg that is hardest to arrange on the night.

Are child seats available?

Yes, with notice. Tell us the ages and we will fit the right seat at no extra cost. Please ask when you book rather than on the day, so the right vehicle is allocated.

Can you take a wheelchair user?

Tell us what you need when you book and we will confirm what we can provide for your date, including a vehicle with step-free access where available. The O2 has its own accessible drop-off arrangements and we will use them.

What happens if the event is cancelled or postponed?

Let us know as soon as you do and we will move the booking to the rescheduled date or cancel it without a fee, subject to our normal notice period. We are not going to charge you for an artist pulling out.

How do we pay?

Card, bank transfer or on account for business bookings. Corporate customers can book on account with a single monthly invoice, and we can supply a VAT receipt for expenses.

★★★★★

"Genuinely the smartest way to handle late-night event transfers in London" — one reviewer pre-booked a return car after a sold-out night at The O2, and was home in comfort while everyone else queued for a black cab. They'd already rebooked for the next show.
