Gatwick Fast Track Security

Updated June 2026 · ~5 min read · Prices are indicative — always check live before booking

Gatwick's Fast Track — officially "Premium Security" — is one of the cheapest stress-removers in air travel: a dedicated lane that skips the standard security queue from around £6. Here's what it costs, how to buy it, the ways to get it free, and whether it's actually worth it for your trip.

Quick answer

Gatwick Fast Track (officially Premium Security) costs from about £6 per person booked online — a dedicated lane that skips the standard security queue, in both terminals, roughly 04:00–20:00. Buy it on the official site / My Gatwick app or add it to a parking or lounge booking. It's free for British Airways passengers and included with a Clubrooms lounge booking. Worth it at busy times, for families and for tight connections.

Security queues are the least predictable part of Gatwick — fine one morning, a 40-minute crawl the next. Fast Track buys certainty for a few pounds: a separate priority lane that takes you straight to the screening point. It doesn't change the screening itself (same rules, same trays), just the queue to reach it.

What Gatwick Fast Track costs

PassFromNotes
Security Fast Track (online)~£6 ppOfficial site / My Gatwick app; under-2s free
Security Fast Track (on the day)~£6–7 ppAt the desk, up to ~20% more, subject to availability
Via third-party sellerfrom ~£5 ppHoliday Extras, Purple, Airparks etc.
Passport Control Fast Track (arrivals)~£9 ppSeparate service — see below

It's charged per person, including children (under-2s free), so a family of four is roughly £24 — still modest against the time and stress it removes at peak periods. Booking online ahead is cheaper than paying at the desk and avoids the "sold out" risk on busy days.

How to buy it

Book online in advance through the official London Gatwick website or the My Gatwick app, choosing a slot roughly two to three hours before your flight. You can also add Fast Track to a parking, hotel or lounge booking in the same checkout. You'll receive an email voucher — show it (printed or on your phone) at the entrance to the Premium Security lane, which sits to the left of the standard lanes and is clearly signed.

How it works

Turn up at your booked time, show the voucher, and you're directed into the dedicated lane that bypasses the main queue. From there it's the normal security process. The pass is valid only for the day and time booked and is single-use. Standard liquids, laptops and luggage rules all still apply — Fast Track speeds the wait, not the search.

The free ways in

Check these before buying a separate pass — there's no point paying twice.

Passport Control Fast Track (arrivals)

A separate service for when you land: a priority lane at UK border control, from around £9 per person, capped at roughly 50 passengers an hour and pre-booked in advance. It's most useful if you have only hand luggage and want to be out and away quickly — less so if you'll be waiting at the carousel for checked bags anyway.

Is Gatwick Fast Track worth it?

For the price, usually yes — in the situations where queues bite. Buy it if you're flying at a peak time (early-morning holiday rush, school holidays, Easter), travelling with children or elderly passengers, or working to a tight check-in window; the certainty alone justifies a fiver. It's less essential at genuinely quiet times, when the standard queue may be only a few minutes, and it's redundant if you already have BA Fast Track or a Clubrooms booking. The honest rule of thumb: the busier your departure and the lower your stress tolerance, the better value it is.

Fast Track only helps if you're there in time

The queue you can't skip is the one to the airport

A £6 Fast Track pass saves nothing if you're stuck in traffic and miss your slot. A fixed-fare transfer collects you from home, tracks your flight and gets you to the right terminal with time in hand — so the only queue left is the short one you've paid to skip. And if you book Clubrooms, Fast Track is already included. RushXO covers both North and South Terminals at one fixed price, no surge.

How do I buy it?
