Meet and Greet Airport Transfer
London — Explained
— Everything You Need to Know.
Meet-and-greet airport transfer means the chauffeur waits inside the arrivals hall with a personalised name board showing your surname — not at the kerb, not in a PHV pickup zone, not in the car park. For couples — particularly on honeymoon, anniversary, or first London arrivals — this is the difference between a transactional taxi pickup and a hospitable London welcome. This guide explains exactly how Rushxo's meet-and-greet works at Heathrow Terminals 2, 3, 4, 5, Gatwick North/South, Stansted, Luton, and London City.
What "meet and greet" actually means
The term "meet and greet" is used loosely by many airport transfer operators. The honest definition — and the standard Rushxo applies — is:
- The chauffeur is physically inside the arrivals hall when you exit the customs/baggage area
- A personalised name board (printed sign) displays the couple's surname so you identify the chauffeur immediately
- The chauffeur knows your flight number and tracks the actual landing time, not the scheduled time
- 60 minutes of complimentary waiting is included from the actual touchdown — so customs queues, baggage delays, and prolonged immigration processing are covered
- The chauffeur assists with luggage from the arrivals hall to the vehicle
- The vehicle is at a designated pickup point close to the arrivals hall (varies by airport)
This is distinct from:
- Kerbside pickup: You exit arrivals and look for a chauffeur at the kerb. Not Rushxo's standard service.
- PHV pickup zone meeting: You walk from arrivals to a designated private hire vehicle zone (often 200-500m walk). This is Uber/Bolt's standard model.
- Car-park pickup: You drive yourself or walk to a car park, find the vehicle. Not Rushxo's standard service.
How Rushxo meet-and-greet works at each London airport
Heathrow (Terminals 2, 3, 4, 5)
Each Heathrow terminal has a designated meet-and-greet area inside the arrivals hall, immediately past the customs exit. The Rushxo chauffeur waits at this point holding a printed name board. For couples landing at:
- Terminal 2 (Star Alliance — United, Lufthansa, Air Canada, Singapore Airlines, ANA): Meet-and-greet at the central arrivals area, between the two arrivals halls
- Terminal 3 (oneworld — American, Cathay Pacific, Qatar, Finnair): Meet at the arrivals exit on the ground floor, near the central café
- Terminal 4 (SkyTeam — Air France, KLM, Korean Air, Saudia, El Al): Meet at the arrivals concourse, opposite the train station entrance
- Terminal 5 (British Airways long-haul, Iberia, Aer Lingus, ITA Airways): Meet at Arrivals A or B, depending on your flight — the booking confirmation specifies which
The chauffeur monitors your flight from the originating airport. If the flight is delayed, the chauffeur arrives at the adjusted time. If the flight lands early, the chauffeur is already there or arrives within 15 minutes.
Gatwick (North and South Terminals)
Gatwick has two terminals connected by a free monorail. Rushxo chauffeurs meet at the arrivals hall of the specified terminal — North Terminal (predominantly easyJet, Norwegian, TUI long-haul, Virgin Atlantic) or South Terminal (predominantly British Airways short-haul, easyJet, Wizz Air, Aer Lingus). The booking confirmation specifies which.
Stansted
Stansted is single-terminal — meet at the arrivals hall, opposite the train station entrance to the Stansted Express.
Luton
Luton has a single arrivals hall. Meet at the front of the arrivals exit, before the public taxi rank area.
London City
The smallest of the five London airports. Single arrivals hall. Meet at the arrivals exit. Distance from arrivals to the vehicle is shortest of all London airports — typically 50-100 metres.
Flight tracking — how it works in practice
Every Rushxo airport booking automatically tracks the inbound flight. The chauffeur's allocated arrival time is calculated as: actual touchdown + 30 minutes (estimated baggage and customs clearance).
For specific flight scenarios:
- Flight delayed 2 hours: Chauffeur arrival shifts 2 hours later — no extra charge
- Flight arrives 30 minutes early: Chauffeur arrives at the adjusted time — no extra charge
- Flight diverted to a different airport: Contact Rushxo concierge for replacement booking; no charge for cancellation
- Customs queue takes 2 hours: 60 minutes complimentary waiting from your touchdown time means the chauffeur waits without additional cost — if customs takes longer, a modest hourly waiting rate applies
Why this matters for couples
For honeymoon, anniversary, or first-time London couples — particularly arriving on long-haul flights — the moment of exiting customs into the arrivals hall is the most disorienting of the entire trip. Finding a name board with your surname held by a uniformed chauffeur removes that disorientation entirely. You walk directly to the person waiting for you, hand over the luggage, and the journey to the hotel begins.
The alternative — navigating arrivals, finding the PHV pickup zone, opening the Uber app, waiting for the driver to "find your terminal" — is the wrong way to begin a romantic London stay.
