Ashford International & Eurostar: The Taxi Connection Guide

Ashford International is Kent's high-speed hub — 38 minutes to St Pancras on the Javelin. Here's how it works, what's happened to Eurostar there, and how towns with no station of their own plug into it.

For a huge swathe of the Kentish Weald — Tenterden, Cranbrook, Biddenden, Hawkhurst — Ashford International is the railway station, even though it's 12–16 miles away. This guide covers what actually runs from Ashford, the honest Eurostar picture, and how to time a taxi connection.

What runs from Ashford International

  • HS1 Javelin to London St Pancras — ~38 minutes
  • Classic Southeastern services to Charing Cross / Victoria via Tonbridge
  • Kent coast services to Canterbury, Folkestone and Dover
  • Eurostar — suspended at Ashford (see below); connect via St Pancras

The headline act is the HS1 Southeastern Highspeed ("Javelin") service: Ashford to London St Pancras in around 38 minutes, typically twice an hour or better. For Wealden towns, taxi-to-Ashford plus Javelin beats any classic-line alternative comfortably.

The Eurostar situation — the honest version

Eurostar trains do not currently call at Ashford. Services were suspended in 2020 and, despite ongoing campaigns to restore them, they had not resumed as of early 2026. The working connection for Paris, Brussels or Amsterdam is: taxi to Ashford → Javelin to St Pancras (~38 min) → Eurostar check-in there. Eurostar asks passengers to arrive 45–90 minutes before departure depending on ticket and season, so build that into the plan.

Always check eurostar.com for the current status before booking — if Ashford calls resume, this connection gets even simpler.

Timing your taxi to a train

  • Domestic Javelin: arrive 15–20 minutes before departure
  • Connecting to Eurostar at St Pancras: allow the Javelin ride plus Eurostar's 45–90 minute check-in
  • From Tenterden allow ~30 minutes' drive; from Cranbrook ~35 — more in school-run peaks on the A28

When you book with RushXO, give us the train time rather than a pickup time — we'll work the schedule backwards from it, including a check-in buffer, and track the return train for the homeward leg. Drop-off is at the station entrance; on pickups the driver meets you at the exit with a name board.

Feeder routes we run daily

The classic no-station towns: Tenterden (its only line is the heritage Kent & East Sussex Railway) and Cranbrook (no station at all). Both are fixed-fare runs of about half an hour, door to platform.
