Verdict. Black cabs are available if you're patient and flexible. For a 6am flight, you can queue at a rank from 4am. For any specific pickup time, you cannot guarantee availability.

Uber operates on Christmas Day but with dramatically reduced driver supply. Surge pricing activates from early morning and stays elevated.

Verdict. Unreliable and eye-wateringly expensive. A significant proportion of users will be unable to find any driver. Do not rely on Uber for Christmas Day airport transfers.

Public transport — zero service

There is no public transport to Heathrow on Christmas Day. Zero. Nothing. Do not plan to use it.
