AO Arena: an arena built on top of a railway station
The AO Arena sits directly above Manchester Victoria, in the middle of the city. That single fact makes it the one northern arena where we will often tell you to take the train, and it changes what we are actually useful for.
Of Manchester Victoria station. Very few arenas anywhere are built into a railway terminus, and it means the exit routes are unusually good for a room this size. It also means a Kent group has a genuine rail option.
When to take the train, and when to book us
This venue has better rail access than anywhere else on our northern list. Pretending otherwise would waste your money.
Two or three people, light
London to Manchester by rail, and the arena is on top of the station you arrive at. It is hard to beat.
Groups of six or more
A coach split six to forty-nine ways starts to compete, and everybody travels together.
Anywhere in Kent not near a mainline
The journey to a London terminus at both ends is where rail loses its advantage.

Groups, luggage and staying together
A party of twelve buying twelve rail tickets and then splitting across a platform is a worse experience and often a dearer one than a single vehicle. Add overnight bags and the calculation moves further. That is the situation where a coach from Kent makes clear sense.
The legs at the Manchester end
Even if you take the train up, an evening still involves getting from a hotel to the arena, from the arena to somewhere to eat, and back again. Those short local runs are straightforward for us to arrange and they are the part people forget until they are standing outside a hotel in the rain.
City-centre exits are genuinely better
Because the arena sits in the middle of Manchester rather than on a campus, the crowd disperses into a city rather than onto a handful of approach roads. Twenty-one thousand people leaving here clears faster than a smaller crowd leaving somewhere isolated. That is a real advantage and it is worth knowing.
Make it a weekend
Manchester is a good city and a five-hour drive each way is a poor use of a Saturday. Most of our groups travel up on the Friday or the Saturday afternoon, see the show, and come back the next day. Tell us the shape and we will price it as one arrangement.

Should we take the train instead?
For two or three people travelling light, quite possibly. The arena is built above Manchester Victoria, so you arrive underneath it. We would rather tell you that than sell you a five-hour coach each way.
When does a coach make more sense?
Groups of six or more, anyone with overnight luggage, anyone in Kent who is not near a fast route to a London terminus, and any group who would rather travel together than split across a train.
Is the AO Arena the same as Co-op Live?
No. The AO Arena is in the city centre above Victoria station. Co-op Live is on the Etihad Campus in east Manchester. Check your ticket.
How far is it from Kent?
Around two hundred and forty to two hundred and eighty miles, four and a half to six and a half hours each way including required rest breaks.
Can you do the local legs if we travel up by train?
Yes, and it is a sensible split. Hotel to arena, arena to dinner, station to hotel. Short jobs where a car genuinely helps.
How does the exit compare with other arenas?
Better than most. The crowd disperses into a city centre rather than onto a few approach roads, so it clears comparatively quickly.
Should we stay over?
Almost certainly. Ten hours of driving around a three-hour show is a poor Saturday. Most groups travel up and come back the following day.
Is the fare fixed?
Yes, agreed before travel, whichever format you choose.
