They call Meopham England's longest village — seven-plus miles of greens, lanes and hamlets strung along the A227 ridge. A village that long needs a taxi service that treats every mile of it as home: fixed prices from £25, Hook Green to Harvel.

"Meopham" on a booking form can mean half a dozen different places, and a firm that does not know that will send the car to the wrong green. The parish runs along the North Downs ridge like beads on a string: Hook Green at the north end where the cricketers have played since the 1700s, Meopham Green with its black smock windmill standing over the pitch like an umpire, the station cluster in the middle, then Culverstone's avenues, Harvel tucked into its hollow, and the Vigo edge where the lanes tip over into Trosley Country Park's beechwoods. Seven-plus miles end to end — a number every resident quotes and every visiting driver underestimates.
We do not underestimate it. Our booking notes carry the distinctions that matter here: which green, which lane, which gate at Camer. The £25 minimum fare carries you between the beads of the string; the fixed airport prices carry you off the ridge entirely; and the night rate is the day rate, because we only print one number.

The commute. Meopham station sits mid-parish on the Victoria line, and its car park surrenders early. The classic booking is the morning standing run from Culverstone or Harvel — five minutes down the lanes, train caught, day begun — and the tracked evening meet, where a delayed 18:24 moves your driver automatically and the dark walk up the ridge never happens.
The green life. Cricket teas at Hook Green, pints opposite the windmill, summer fêtes that close half the A227 — we run the social calendar of the greens all season, and the lift home from the pub at the far end of one's own village is, in a seven-mile village, a genuinely sensible taxi journey.
The outdoors. Camer Country Park's gates for the dog-walkers and party picnics; Trosley's car parks for the North Downs Way walkers — including the one-way trick our regulars love: drop at Trosley, walk the ridge to Holly Hill or beyond, and have the car meet you at the far end so the walk never has to double back.
The lanes proper. Harvel, Priestwood, the farm tracks toward Luddesdown — addresses where a postcode lands you in a field. Send us a what3words pin or a gate description and the right car still finds the right door, which is most of what "local firm" means out here.
The ridge adds a few miles to everything, and the fixed price absorbs them all. Heathrow (46 miles, £97) — down to the A2 and round the M25, the Dartford question settled by live data before the car leaves the lane. Gatwick (35 miles, £77) — the surprise bargain of the ridge, dropping south through the lanes to the M25 or down the A227 through the Weald edge, whichever the morning favours. Stansted (45 miles, £95) — across the river and up the M11, late landings met inside with a name board. Luton (55 miles, £110) — the long arc, and the strongest argument for a price agreed in advance. London City (20 miles, £44) — the ridge's business shortcut.
